Estonian airline Nordica carried some 143,000 passengers in the second quarter this year. Due to the recent reorganisation of its network of routes from Tallinn, with the airline reducing the volume of flights by one-third, the number of passengers has also reduced by about 30 percent compared to the same period last year. A total of some 270,000 passengers have been served in the first six months of this year, as expected by the airline.

Over 99 percent of Nordica’s flights proceeded, making it one of the most on-schedule airlines. The number of flights departing within 15 minutes of their scheduled time was also high – 86 percent.

Nordica’s Head of Communications, Toomas Uibo, emphasised the good flight occupancy rate for the summer period. “We are ahead of our budget when it comes to the number of passengers while advance ticket sales are progressing as planned.”

In June the Estonian airline announced suspension from 27 October this year of ticket sales and flights on Tallinn routes under its own brand in order to focus on participation in public tenders and charter flight operations.

Head of Communications Toomas Uibo added: “All passengers buying our tickets can be sure that we will be flying as scheduled, without any alterations. You will still see aircraft in Nordica colours in Tallinn after 26 October operated by REGIONAL JET, our capacity provider airline owned by Nordica and LOT, who is providing aviation services to Nordica, LOT, SAS and other airlines with at the moment 19 aircraft.”

In the first six months of this year over 5,300 scheduled flights were flown under Nordica’s trademark, operated by Regional Jet.
