Ryanair’s current chief executive officer Michael O’Leary is going to hand over his position to his human resources director, Eddie Wilson. The low-cost airline confirmed the information on Friday, but it had already been leaked to the Irish press.
O’Leary will become the boss of the holding above the different companies of the group, namely Ryanair, Buzz, Lauda and Malta Air. The changes will be effective as of Monday.
Ryanair has recently restructured into a holding company with several airlines, the largest of which is Ryanair. Michael O’Leary becomes the CEO of this parent company, according to The Irish Times.
Eddie Wilson, who has been working for the Irish company for 22 years, succeeds him as head of the low-cost airline. In particular, he was responsible for negotiations with the pilot and cabin crew unions that Ryanair has recognised at the end of last year.
Wilson will be placed under the authority of Mr O’Leary, alongside the bosses of other carriers of the group (Buzz, Lauda and Malta Air).
