Both The Netherlands and Australia are to hold Russia legally responsible for the shooting down of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 (9M-MRD), MH17 was a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and was shot down on 17 July 2014 while flying over eastern Ukraine, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board. The two countries now demand that Russia takes its responsibility and fully cooperates in order to discover what really happened and to find justice.

Meanwhile Russia has been informed on the decision, Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs Blok said in a statement: “The Dutch Cabinet has always demanded that the truth about flight MH17 must come out and justice must come for the victims and their next of kin. The Netherlands has the support of the entire international community for this.

Yesterday (24 May 2018) the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) said that “it has now been proven that the Buk missile which downed flight MH17 was fired from an installation belonging to the Russian army. Moreover, it would have been shown that the installation of the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade came from Kursk.
