SWISS welcomes its frirst Airbus A350, marking a new era in long-haul travel

Share

SWISS has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350, which landed at Zurich Airport on 9 October 2025, marking the start of a new chapter for the airline. The aircraft, registered HB-IFA, arrived from Airbus’s Toulouse facility and features a special “Wanderlust” livery celebrating Switzerland’s diversity. Its arrival drew large crowds of employees and aviation enthusiasts.

The A350 introduces the airline’s new “SWISS Senses” cabin concept, offering passengers a more spacious, relaxing, and personalised premium travel experience with advanced design, lighting, and service elements. CEO Jens Fehlinger highlighted the aircraft as a “huge leap forward” in efficiency, comfort, and technology, while CCO Heike Birlenbach emphasised its role in redefining SWISS’s signature premium service.

The A350 is up to 25% more fuel-efficient and quieter than older models, with advanced materials that enhance passenger comfort through better cabin pressure and humidity. SWISS plans to add ten A350s to its fleet by 2031.

Before entering long-haul service, the aircraft will operate short European training flights, beginning with a Zurich–Palma de Mallorca service on 25 October, followed by its first long-haul route to Boston on 20 November 2025.
