SWISS will increase capacity at its Geneva base during the 2027 summer season by replacing two Airbus A220-300s with larger Airbus A320neo aircraft.
The change will increase capacity on the busy Geneva–London Heathrow route, where the two A320neos will primarily be deployed. The route is one of SWISS’s highest-demand services from Geneva.
The Airbus A220-300 currently used offers 145 seats, while the A320neo accommodates 180 passengers, providing 35 additional seats per flight without requiring an increase in frequencies.
SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger said the fleet adjustment demonstrates the airline’s long-term commitment to Geneva, with the carrier seeking to develop an attractive, demand-driven and profitable network from its second Swiss base.
The move also enables SWISS to respond to strong demand between Geneva and London, one of Europe’s important business and leisure markets, by increasing capacity through larger aircraft rather than additional flights.
SWISS is still finalising the operational details of its summer 2027 programme. The season will run from 28 March until 30 October 2027.
