Swiss International Air Lines has issued a clarification regarding the diversion of flight LX325 to Brussels Airport on Monday evening, confirming that no fire occurred on board and that the event was an unscheduled—not emergency—landing.
According to the airline, the crew decided to divert the aircraft, Airbus A320neo registered HB-JDH, after detecting an unusual smell in the forward galley while en route from London to Zurich. As a precaution, the flight was rerouted to Brussels, where it landed uneventfully. Passengers disembarked using normal procedures.
Airport fire services were present upon arrival, in line with standard safety protocols for such situations.
There were 168 passengers and 6 crew members on board the aircraft.
SWISS expressed regret for the disruption caused, acknowledging the uncertainty and inconvenience experienced by passengers. All travelers were accommodated overnight in hotels in Brussels, and efforts were made to rebook them on the best available alternative flights. Most passengers have already continued their journeys, with the remainder expected to do so shortly.
The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection in Brussels. At this time, it remains unclear when it will return to Zurich. The plane is still at Brussels on Tuesday morning, 7 April.
