SWISS posts CHF 502 million (€552 million) operating profit in 2025

Swiss International Air Lines reported a decline in profitability for the 2025 financial year as structural pressures and market headwinds weighed on earnings.

The airline posted an adjusted EBIT of CHF 502.2 million (€552 million), down 26.6 percent from CHF 683.8 million (€752 million) in 2024. Total revenue for 2025 fell 2.6 percent to CHF 5.50 billion (€6.05 billion).

SWISS carried 18.1 million passengers during the year — up slightly year-on-year — and operated more than 143,000 flights. Available seat-kilometres (ASK) rose 1.5 percent, while revenue passenger-kilometres (RPK) increased 0.5 percent. The seat load factor stood at 83.3 percent, slightly lower than a year earlier.

According to the airline, earnings were pressured by strong competitive dynamics, volatile demand and rising fees and maintenance costs, while its cargo business underperformed against the prior year. Resource shortages, particularly of engines and crew, also led to some aircraft being underutilised.

On the positive side, lower fuel prices helped offset some cost headwinds, and operational performance improved. SWISS reported average punctuality of 69.3 percent, up 4.1 percentage points, and schedule stability of 98.0 percent.

SWISS said it has initiated structural cost-efficiency measures and plans further investments in customer experience, including the rollout of its new SWISS Senses cabin and a refurbishment of its long-haul Airbus A330 fleet.
