Swiss airline Edelweiss, part of the Lufthansa Group, will open a new weekly direct route between Zürich and Luleå starting December 19, 2025. Operated with an Airbus A320 (174 seats), the route will strengthen ties between Swedish Lapland and Switzerland, just in time for the winter season.
The new service will cater to growing interest in northern lights tourism and Arctic adventures, while also benefiting business and family travel. Edelweiss sees the route as a natural step in expanding its northern Europe offerings, amid increasing demand from Swiss travellers.
Swedavia’s Aviation Director, Elizabeth Axtelius, praised the move, calling Zürich a highly popular destination and emphasising the importance of enhancing regional connectivity.
This marks Edelweiss’s debut at Luleå Airport, further connecting northern Sweden to the European continent.
