The Lufthansa Group reported record revenue in 2025 and a significant increase in operating profit, despite geopolitical tensions and ongoing industry challenges.
The airline group generated €39.6 billion in revenue, a 5 percent increase compared to 2024, while adjusted EBIT rose 20 percent to €2 billion. The operating margin improved to 4.9 percent, up from 4.4 percent a year earlier. Net income remained broadly stable at €1.3 billion.
Passenger airlines within the group carried 135 million passengers, an increase of 3 percent year-on-year, with a record seat load factor of 83.2 percent. Combined, the passenger airlines generated €30.1 billion in revenue and €1.1 billion in operating profit. Recently integrated ITA Airways contributed €90 million to the result.
The group said improved operational stability helped reduce costs linked to flight disruptions by €362 million, while lower fuel prices and a weaker US dollar generated additional savings of around €500 million.
Among other divisions, Lufthansa Cargo increased its operating profit by nearly 30 percent to €324 million, supported by strong demand in Asian markets. Lufthansa Technik reported €603 million in operating profit, broadly stable compared to the previous year.
Looking ahead, the Lufthansa Group expects further revenue growth and a significant increase in earnings in 2026, although the company warned that geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, could increase uncertainty for the aviation sector.
The group also plans to continue its fleet renewal programme, with new aircraft expected to join the fleet nearly every week in 2026, while capacity growth will focus primarily on long-haul routes.
