Lufthansa already cancelled 46 flights today (25 March) after a software issue at DFS German Air Traffic Control Center in Langen, Germany. At least 4,500 passengers have been affected by the cancellations. The airline advises to check on their website for further flight information.
The software malfunction is affecting the German airports of Frankfurt am Main, Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf. Airline safety, however, is not affected, DFS confirmed.
The cause is a system for the electronic display of flight progress strips, which does not work properly. Air traffic control technicians are working to fix the problem. All other air traffic control systems are fully available. Other control centers of DFS are not affected by these restrictions.
