Lufthansa has taken delivery of its first anniversary aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registered D-ABPU and named Berlin, which arrived in Frankfurt from Boeing’s Everett facility. The aircraft features a striking special livery marking the airline’s 100th anniversary, highlighted by an oversized white crane spanning the blue fuselage and wings, alongside “1926 | 2026” branding and multiple “100” insignia.
The Dreamliner serves as the flagship of Lufthansa’s upcoming anniversary fleet, which will comprise six aircraft across different types, including an A380, A350-1000, A350-900, A320 and 747-8, to be rolled out progressively through 2026. Lufthansa will officially mark its centenary next year, commemorating the founding of the first Lufthansa on 6 January 1926 and its inaugural flight on 6 April 1926.
The newly delivered 787-9 is expected to enter scheduled service within the next few weeks, acting as a flying ambassador for the airline’s centennial celebrations ahead of the full anniversary fleet being completed by autumn 2026.
