Lufthansa has launched a new stopover programme allowing passengers to transform layovers into short city trips, starting with its hub in Munich.
The initiative enables travellers on selected routes from Singapore and the United States to extend their stop in Munich for between 24 hours and seven days, effectively turning a connection into a flexible multi-day visit.
The stopover option is embedded directly into the airline’s booking process and is available across all travel classes. Passengers can choose to include the extended stay on either the outbound or return leg of their journey.
In addition to flights, customers can bundle:
These add-ons are made available shortly after booking through Lufthansa’s integrated partners.
According to Lufthansa, the programme is designed to enhance the travel experience by offering greater flexibility and personalisation, while also promoting Munich as a destination.
The airline plans to expand the concept to additional routes and hubs across the Lufthansa Group network over the coming year.
The move reflects a broader industry trend of airlines seeking to increase ancillary revenue and differentiate their product by combining air travel with curated destination experiences.
