Lufthansa’s newest Boeing 787-9, featuring a striking special livery celebrating the airline’s 100th anniversary, is set to arrive in Frankfurt shortly before Christmas. The aircraft, registered D-ABPU and named Berlin, will join the fleet ahead of its planned entry into scheduled service in January 2026.
The jet received its commemorative livery at Boeing’s facility in Charleston, South Carolina, before being transferred to Everett, Washington, for final preparations. The design blends heritage with modernity: a deep blue fuselage dominated by a large white crane, its wings seamlessly extending across the aircraft, turning the 787-9 into a “flying ambassador” for the centennial celebrations.
Lufthansa will officially introduce the aircraft into regular passenger operations at the start of 2026, marking the first major public appearance of the special anniversary branding.
