Pilots at Lufthansa will stage a two-day strike on Monday and Tuesday, intensifying ongoing labour tensions after failed negotiations with management.
The walkout, led by the Vereinigung Cockpit union, will affect Lufthansa Cargo, CityLine, and Eurowings, running from midnight Monday to midnight Tuesday. The union cited the airline’s lack of meaningful engagement in multiple collective bargaining disputes.
The strike follows a recent cabin crew stoppage organised by UFO, which already caused widespread disruption. Lufthansa has preemptively cancelled hundreds of flights, with major hubs such as Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport heavily impacted—up to 75% of departures in Frankfurt were scrapped.
The action risks significant disruption across Germany’s aviation network, echoing earlier strikes this year that grounded hundreds of flights and affected around 100,000 passengers.
