Lufthansa operated its first flight equipped with Starlink high-speed internet on 19 August 2026. Airbus A320neo D-AINM inaugurated the service on flight LH234 from Frankfurt to Rome, becoming the first aircraft across the Lufthansa Group to feature the technology.
The satellite-based system is designed to provide fast, reliable connectivity from take-off to landing on short- and long-haul services, including flights over oceans and remote regions.
Up to ten additional A320-family aircraft operated by Lufthansa and Lufthansa City Airlines are expected to receive Starlink before the end of 2026. Installations will mainly take place at Lufthansa Technik in Berlin during scheduled maintenance.
The programme will subsequently be extended to other Lufthansa Group airlines. By 2029, the group plans to equip around 850 aircraft, which would make it Europe’s largest airline group offering Starlink connectivity.
Access will be free for Miles & More members and passengers with a Travel ID, regardless of travel class. The onboard portal will offer internet access, destination information, digital publications and, later, flight-related services.
