As of 8th November, Lufthansa will fly five times a week from Berlin to New York. The route will run between Berlin-Tegel and John F. Kennedy International Airport every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday respectively. Flights of the German carrier will take off from Berlin at 17:35 and land in New York at 21:35, local time. When flying to Berlin, passengers take off at 23:20, local time in New York-JFK and land, the following day, at 12:15 in Berlin. The flight duration is around 7 ½ hours and is flown with the Airbus A330-300. Passengers are able to choose between seats in Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, said:

“I am pleased that Lufthansa will be flying from Berlin to the USA again, for the first time since 2001. The frequency of the route to New York demonstrates how important long-haul routes from Berlin already are. Despite the limited opportunities that we have here in Tegel, we are also currently involved in in-depth conversations with other airlines in order to expand what we have to offer in terms of long-haul flights. In order to be able to offer a long-haul network in the future, that the economy, politics and citizens of the metropolitan region of Berlin-Brandenburg need, we are building the Single-Airport BER. Because only from BER can we handle flights better and more quickly and utilise the full potential of long-haul flying.”
