Lufthansa elevates long-haul travel with FOX Premium experience

Share

Lufthansa has officially launched its new FOX (Future Onboard Experience) concept in First Class as of 29 March 2026, marking a major upgrade to its long-haul inflight service and customer experience.

A Flagship Investment in Premium Travel

  • Over €70 million invested in long-haul service enhancements
  • Developed across 2 years, with:
    • 110+ test flights
    • Input from 500+ crew members
    • Feedback from 9,000+ passengers
  • Rollout to all travel classes (First ? Economy) starting May 2026

CEO Jens Ritter positions FOX as a cornerstone initiative for Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary, aiming to redefine onboard service standards.

First Class: Fine Dining Meets Personalization

FOX introduces a restaurant-style culinary concept curated by Christoph Kunz, known for his Munich restaurant Komu.

Key upgrades:

  • Multi-course tasting concept:
    • “Trilogies” for starters, appetizers, and desserts
    • Choice between à la carte main or full tasting menu
  • Enhanced gourmet breakfast, including caviar on request
  • Expanded drinks list:
    • New cocktails, long drinks, and mocktails

Signature elements like Lufthansa’s iconic caviar service remain—but are refined with:

  • Traditional accompaniments
  • Blinis and mother-of-pearl presentation

Premium Beverage Offering

A notable addition is the introduction of La Grande Dame—the prestige cuvée from Veuve Clicquot—now served on every First Class flight, alongside rotating premium champagnes.

Wellness & Personal Comfort

FOX also expands into personalized inflight wellness:

  • New amenity kits by BABOR
  • Selectable skincare menu, tailored to passenger preferences
  • On-demand delivery by cabin crew

Strategic Takeaway

FOX is not just a service refresh—it’s a full-stack onboard redesign:

  • Culinary differentiation through chef partnerships
  • Premium product elevation (champagne, amenities)
  • Customization at scale across cabins

With First Class as the launch platform, Lufthansa is clearly repositioning its long-haul experience to compete more aggressively in the high-yield premium segment, before extending the concept fleetwide.
