German UFO (Unabhängige Flugbegleiter Organisation), representing Lufthansa’s cabin crew members, announced a five-hour strike on Sunday 20 October. The union urges its Munich and Frankfurt based members to strike between 06:00 and 11:00 (UTC +2).
According to website Paddle your own kanoo, the strike is a result of a long running and increasingly bitter dispute over protracted contract negotiations and union representation.
On UFO’s website, the union doesn’t rule out other work stoppages in the future: “Where there will be more work stoppages, now depends solely on whether Lufthansa returns to the negotiating table,” UFO said.
Lufthansa is yet to comment on the strike announcement.
