A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 registered D-ABVU, en route from Frankfurt to Shanghai on flight LH732 with 370 passengers on board, had to return to the airport from where it had taken off a little earlier because of a technical problem, said a Lufthansa spokesman in the night from Sunday to Monday.
There was no immediate urgency, the spokesman told the DPA news agency. The pilots decided to return to Frankfurt “as a precaution“.
The landing was smooth in the presence of firefighters. Lufthansa did not specify the reason for the technical damage that caused this return.
Passengers are being transported to Shanghai on another Boeing 747-400 aircraft (D-ABVP) some 14 hours later. The plane is still in the air at the moment of writing.
