Lufthansa Group triples flights from Bordeaux (to Frankfurt, Zurich, Brussels)

Share

To meet strong demand from Bordeaux, the Lufthansa Group has increased its offering from 7 to 25 flights per week in the spring, via the opening of a route from Zurich and increased frequencies on the routes from Frankfurt and Brussels.

Following the opening last summer of the route between Bordeaux-Mérignac and Frankfurt Airport, the German group continues to strengthen its presence in France in 2018, first with the inauguration on March 26 of the new connection of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) from Zurich-Kloten. This new route will be offered from the start with 12 weekly flights operated by SWISS Bombardier CS300, Helvetic Airways Embraer 190 or Austrian Airlines Bombardier Dash 8-Q400. Swiss is without competition on this route.

Starting next summer, Lufthansa will strengthen its Bordeaux – Frankfurt route, which will be provided throughout the year, from 2 to 7 weekly rotations without competition. The offer from Bordeaux to Brussels will also be reinforced with an additional frequency, to 6 flights per week operated by Brussels Airlines in competition with easyJet (and Ryanair from Charleroi).

Pascal Personne, CEO of Bordeaux Airport, says he is “very happy to see a major airline group such as Lufthansa Group continuing to develop in Bordeaux. Access to the Frankfurt hub since 2017 and then to Zurich this year, not forgetting Brussels with Brussels Airlines since 2015, opens up hundreds of connection possibilities from and to the world. Significant economic benefits will be generated by this new gateway to our region.“
