Lufthansa is strengthening its presence in Northern Europe with an expanded winter 2026/27 schedule, including a new direct route and increased frequencies across key Arctic destinations.
A major addition is the launch of a new twice-weekly service between Munich and Rovaniemi starting December 4, 2026. Operated with the Airbus A320neo, the route provides direct access to Lapland, a region increasingly popular for winter tourism.
The airline is also boosting capacity on existing Nordic routes:
Increased frequencies on Frankfurt–Tromsø and Munich–Tromsø
Additional seasonal flights (Feb–Mar 2027) to Rovaniemi, Kuusamo, and Kittilä
Across the wider Lufthansa Group—including airlines such as Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Edelweiss, and Discover Airlines—the group will operate up to 69 weekly flights to nine Arctic Circle airports.
This expansion reflects growing demand for Nordic and Arctic destinations, with places like Tromsø becoming highly connected hubs for winter travel and increasingly popular year-round touristic markets.
