Lufthansa and SWISS announce exciting Summer 2024 expansion, including five new routes to North America

Lufthansa and SWISS International Airlines are thrilled to unveil their joint expansion plans for the summer of 2024, offering travellers an array of exciting new destinations and increased flight options. Here’s what you can expect:

Lufthansa’s USA expansion:

  • Lufthansa is significantly expanding its US network with three new connections.
  • Starting in summer 2024, Lufthansa will serve a total of 27 destinations in the USA, a substantial increase from the pre-pandemic era.
  • New destinations from Frankfurt include Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.
  • Munich will see the introduction of flights to Seattle, Johannesburg, and Hong Kong.
  • The Airbus A350 will operate daily flights from Munich to Seattle, doubling the frequency.
  • Lufthansa will also double its A380 destinations from Munich, featuring Boston, Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Washington, D.C., and Delhi.

SWISS’s expanding horizons:

  • SWISS is expanding its route network in summer 2024 with exciting additions.
  • Zurich will offer non-stop services to Washington, D.C., and Toronto. A daily service between Zurich and Washington, D.C. will be operated year-round. Toronto will join the network on a provisional basis, with daily service except Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Košice in Slovakia and Cluj-Napoca in Romania are new European destinations. Košice will be served three times a week, and Cluj-Napoca will receive thrice-weekly flights.
  • Overall, SWISS will provide flights to 113 destinations from Zurich and Geneva in the 2024 summer schedules.
  • Bookings for these new routes will be available from September 13, 2023, through the respective airline websites.
