ITA Airways is expanding its long-haul network with a new seasonal route linking Rome Fiumicino Airport to Santo Domingo, marking its entry into Central America and the Caribbean market.

Tickets for the new service went on sale on April 22, with flights set to begin on 30 November 2026. The route will initially operate once weekly on Mondays, increasing to twice weekly from mid-December through the end of March 2027.

The service will be operated using the Airbus A330neo, configured with Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

The addition represents the first new destination in ITA Airways’ 2026–2027 winter schedule and forms part of a broader push to strengthen its intercontinental network. The airline already serves key long-haul markets, including North and South America, and has recently expanded operations to Asia with increased frequencies to India and Thailand.

Chief Commercial Officer Emiliana Limosani said the new route is aimed at both leisure travellers and the tourism sector, offering a direct connection for winter travel demand while enhancing Rome’s role as a hub.

The expansion underscores ITA Airways’ strategy to grow its long-haul operations, supported by ongoing fleet development and a focus on high-demand international markets.
