ITA Airways delivers more customer value by switching app and website to Lufthansa Group platform

Share

  • ITA Airways flights can now be flexibly combined with all other Lufthansa Group connections
  • New functionalities for enhanced travel experience

ITA Airways is introducing a completely new digital offering to its customers. The app and website have been completely rebuilt and now offer numerous new functionalities and options. The new digital solutions incorporate all elements of the ITA Airways brand, including the logo, colour scheme, imagery, and content. However, they are based on the same technology already used by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines. This digital integration is a key component of the collaboration between ITA Airways and the Lufthansa Group. It marks another important step toward a unified customer experience across the Lufthansa Group’s network airlines.

Travellers can now also freely combine ITA Airways flights with those of other Lufthansa Group hub carriers in a single booking. Existing bookings for ITA Airways flights can be transferred to the new app or website. The new online channels will also be expanded gradually: In the future, Travel ID and Miles & More accounts will be accessible directly through the new app. Additionally, the app will soon offer direct login, automatic email and push notifications, as well as a check-in process standardised with other Lufthansa Group Airlines.

The new ITA Airways app and website are designed to offer passengers optimal support and useful information at every stage of their journey. From inspiration to flight search, from booking to payment, from additional services to useful travel information and post-flight services, the new digital solutions provide a comprehensive range of information. The new ITA Airways online platforms are available in nine languages.

The division responsible for development—the Lufthansa Group Digital Hangar—has carried out the development during the last twelve months, including extensive programming for ITA Airways’ new app and website. The goal is to provide a consistent, modern experience across all digital touchpoints with the customer. This includes simple and intuitive user guidance during booking, seamless integration of services, and personalised travel information. With the switch to the Lufthansa Group platform, ITA Airways now has a modern app. This Group platform was already recognised internationally as the “Best Airline App” in 2024.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer Lufthansa Group, says: “With our shared platform, we are creating real added value for ITA Airways customers. The new app is intuitive, easy to use, and designed to be a trusted companion throughout the journey to deliver a seamless travel experience. With more than 200,000 daily users, ITA Airways’ digital channels already play a key role in our interactions with customers.”
