Yesterday evening (19 November), German union Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (Ver.di) announced a temporary warning strike for Eurowings subsidiaries Luftfahrt Gesellschaft Walter and Eurowings Germany. The union and Lufthansa’s low-cost branch do not agree on collective labour agreements and pension schemes, Ver.di calls on the respective cabin crew members to stop working this morning (20 November) between 04:30 and 12:30 (UTC +1).
A quick look on Dusseldorf Airport’s departure page indicate that at least 28 flights have been canceled this morning.
The strike is limited to Dusseldorf Airport only, the airline announced, at all other twelve sites Eurowings will carry out more than 700 daily flights as scheduled. The airline is confident that the vast majority of flights will operate from Dusseldorf.
Passengers are kindly asked to check the status of their flight prior to departure and to arrive at the airport in due time as there may be delays at check-in and security. Affected flights can be rebooked or canceled free of charge.
“We regret the inconvenience to our guests and will, of course, do anything to minimize the impact of this work stoppage,” the airline said in a statement.
