A Eurowings Airbus A330 en-route from Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman to Cologne/Bonn has made an emergency landing in Kuwait after a bomb scare, Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority said.
After a thorough search of the plane, no evidence of a bomb was found, according to a Lufthansa spokesman.
Flight EW117, an Airbus A330-203 was carrying 287 passengers and 10 crew on board, according to Kuwait’s KUNA news agency. Everybody on board was evacuated after the captain had requested an emergency landing. The passengers were being looked after in a hotel while awaiting details for continuing their flight home.
The same plane is scheduled to fly everyone back home in Cologne at 22:00 on 15 January, because the crew had exceeded their duty time.
