Eurowings, Lufthansa Group’s low-cost carrier, delivered a solid operational performance in the first half of 2025, flying over 10 million passengers on 77,000 flights with 99% schedule regularity and 80% on-time performance. Despite these operational gains and a high Net Promoter Score of 47, the airline’s business segment—alongside its stake in SunExpress—posted a €137 million loss (adjusted EBIT), reflecting the rising burden of taxes and fees in Germany.
“We’ve expanded our network and delivered reliable, high-quality service across Europe. Our results reflect a strong team performance and our evolution into a true value airline,” said CEO Jens Bischof.
Network Expansion and Customer Focus
Driven by booming demand for leisure travel, Eurowings significantly expanded its network to 150 direct destinations in 36 countries. The airline emphasised its continued shift toward value-oriented travel, aiming to balance affordable pricing with strong service standards.
Skytrax Recognition
Eurowings was named “Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe” at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, recognising its service improvements, price-performance ratio, and focus on customer satisfaction.
Lufthansa Group Context
While Eurowings maintained operational excellence, the point-to-point segment of the Lufthansa Group remains under pressure, with losses attributed to rising operating costs at German airports. The division’s headcount increased to nearly 5,500 in support of its expanded flying program.
Looking ahead to the peak summer travel season, Eurowings is positioned to benefit from strong demand and its focus on reliability, punctuality, and customer loyalty—key pillars in its long-term strategy to grow as Europe’s leading value airline.
