Eurowings launches its low-cost long-haul from Munich. The first long-haul flight took off this Monday heading for Las Vegas. Passengers can now travel to the Nevada metropolis via two flights a week. Flights take place on Mondays and Thursdays.
As with all Eurowings’ long-haul flights, the tickets are unbeatably cheap. One-way tickets to the casino city are already available for only EUR 189.99. A total of ten new long-haul destinations are being added to the offering from Munich. Also included are Fort Myers and Windhoek for an unbeatable EUR 179.99.
Las Vegas is followed by Cancun in Mexico (from 19 April) and Mauritius (from 21 April) with a weekly flight and Fort Myers (from 1 May) with two flights a week. The quartet will be supplemented over the summer with a weekly flight to Caribbean destinations such as Varadero (from 2 May), Punta Cana (from 4 May), Montego Bay (from 18 July) and Puerto Plata (from 19 July).
Flights will also be operated to Windhoek in Namibia (from 7 May) and Bangkok (15 June) in Thailand. Customers can now book all destinations at www.eurowings.com or via the Eurowings app on smartphone and tablet.
“With the launch of long-haul in Munich, we’re positioning ourselves yet again as Europe’s fastest growing airline. With the consistent and successful expansion of the long-haul offering in Munich we are now serving the high demand of our customers from the catchment area in Southern Germany,” says Oliver Wagner, Eurowings CCO. “With a total of 15 new routes and 41 destinations from Munich, we’re doubling our growth and will carry up to two million passengers.”
Dr. Michael Kerkloh, President and CEO of Flughafen München GmbH, “We’re delighted that Eurowings is expanding its commitment at Munich airport and is now offering long-haul flights from Munich for the first time. Germany’s largest low-cost airline is thus closing a supply gap at our airport. Now travellers from Munich have the opportunity to use low-cost flights for long-distance travel. Given the extremely attractive destinations, I’m sure the new connections will meet with a great response.”
In the course of this expansion step, three Airbus A330 will be based in Munich.
Eurowings is expecting a high seat occupancy rate and in the coming summer alone is providing more than 200,000 extra seats on the long-haul routes from Munich. The more than seven short- and medium-haul aircraft used in Munich will provide ideal conditions for supplying the growing Eurowings long-haul routes with feeder flights.
