Frankfurt, 15 October 2025 – Discover Airlines, the Lufthansa Group’s leisure carrier, is accelerating its expansion with plans to operate 40 aircraft by mid-2028, including the introduction of the Airbus A350-900 as its new flagship.
From mid-2027, four A350-900s are set to join the fleet, marking a major step forward in efficiency, comfort, and long-haul capability. The aircraft could initially serve routes such as Windhoek and Orlando, while enabling new destinations in South and Central America, southern Africa, and Southeast Asia.
The A350 consumes significantly less fuel, operates more quietly, and offers enhanced cabin comfort thanks to improved humidity and lower cabin pressure.
By 2026, Discover Airlines’ long-haul fleet will grow to 16 Airbus A330-300s, following the retirement of three A330-200s and the addition of five newer aircraft. From 2027, all A330s will feature a next-generation cabin across all three classes.
The short- and medium-haul fleet will also expand, reaching 20 Airbus A320s by mid-2028.
CEO Bernd Bauer said:
“With the expansion and modernization of our fleet – including the planned introduction of the Airbus A350 – we’re taking a decisive step toward more comfort, range, and sustainability. This will allow us to meet travellers’ needs even better while strengthening the Lufthansa Group’s position in the leisure travel segment.”
