Lufthansa Group will announce the cut of thousands of jobs on Monday, Reuters and Bloomberg reported Friday, citing two anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
According to the sources, Lufthansa plans to reduce administrative staff by about one-fifth over the coming years. The exact number of jobs to be cut is not yet clear, but the impact would be felt across the entire group, one source added.
The group includes airlines such as Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and Brussels Airlines. At the end of June, the group employed around 103,000 people.
Lufthansa Group will hold an Investor Day on Monday. After a difficult 2024, during which it had to issue two profit warnings, but promised to present a turnaround plan.
The company declined to comment when contacted by Reuters. Brussels Airlines also gave no comment when asked by Belgian newspapers Le Soir and Het Laatste Nieuws, but referred to a press release that Lufthansa Group will publish on Monday.
