Today Brussels Airlines staff and their family had the opportunity to say goodbye to OO-DWD, Brussels Airlines’ last Avro RJ100 aircraft. Aviation.be was invited to join the second of three round-trips above Belgium.
Even on short flights Brussels Airlines takes safety very seriously. Flight attendant Christelle Ruelle in action.
After take-off on runway 25R OO-DWD headed to Sint-Niklaas, then a 360-turn above Antwerp. Finally a right turn back to Brussels Airport runway 25L.
Applause from the passengers, and arrival speeches from purser Rita Janseune. This flight was also the very last flight of captain Rik Zwaenepoel, who is retiring from tomorrow. A total of four captains will retire, together with the last flights of the Avro.
Before the third and final flight the aircraft received the traditional water salute from the Brussels Airport fire fighting department.
