On Wednesday, a European Union court announced that the financial assistance provided to Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines in the form of loans and recapitalisation amid the COVID-19 pandemic complies with the EU’s internal market regulations.

This implies that the legal challenge raised by the rival airline Ryanair against this aid has been unsuccessful.

Brussels Airlines expressed its satisfaction with the court’s decision in an emailed statement released on the same day.
