Pilots of Brussels Airlines threaten with new and longer strikes

Share

Pilots at Brussels Airlines are threatening to initiate a new series of extended strikes, set to commence on March 23 and lasting for four consecutive days, with the possibility of occurring one to two times per month, according to information obtained by Aviation24.be.

A social conflict has arisen within the airline regarding increased wages. The pilots contend that they made wage sacrifices during the COVID-19 crisis, and now, as the airline’s situation improves, they seek to regain those losses. Despite a proposal put forth by Brussels Airlines, it falls short of meeting the pilots’ expectations.

ACV Puls secretary Jolinde Defieuw confirms the potential for actions from March 23, stating, “A strike notice has been submitted.” Nevertheless, the unions representing the pilots express hope that a strike can be averted.
