Lorenza Maggio, new CEO Brussels Airlines

Lufthansa Group has appointed Lorenza Maggio as the new Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Airlines, succeeding Dorothea von Boxberg, who will leave the airline and the Lufthansa Group at her own request on 31 August 2026 to join the automotive industry (BMW). The appointment remains subject to approval by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding.

In addition to leading Brussels Airlines, Maggio will also serve as Executive Board Representative to the European Commission, reinforcing the airline’s role within the Lufthansa Group.

An Italian national with a bachelor’s degree from the Lausanne Hotel School, Lorenza Maggio has served on the ITA Airways Board of Directors since January 2025 as Chief Strategy and Integration Officer, overseeing the Italian carrier’s integration into the Lufthansa Group and its strategic development. She previously held several senior positions within the Group, including Vice President Sales for Lufthansa Group’s network airlines across Europe (excluding home markets), the Middle East and Africa, as well as leadership roles at Eurowings and the LSG Group.

Lufthansa Group Chief Commercial Officer and SN Airholding Chairman Dieter Vranckx said Maggio’s extensive international experience and knowledge of the Group made her well placed to lead Brussels Airlines as an integrated hub airline, while thanking outgoing CEO Dorothea von Boxberg for her years of service.
