An investigation remains ongoing one year after a ground crew member suffered serious leg injuries when a Brussels Airlines aircraft began rolling following pushback at Birmingham Airport.
The incident occurred on 24 October 2025 and involved Airbus A319 OO-SSF. According to the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), the tug had been disconnected and moved away when the aircraft started to roll, injuring the headset operator.
France’s aviation safety investigation authority, the BEA, confirmed that the injured worker was a member of the pushback team.
Aviation Safety Network records identify the aircraft as an A319-111 operating flight SN2048 and place the incident at gate 41. No fatalities or aircraft damage were reported.
The AAIB has not established the cause of the movement or assigned responsibility. Investigators are examining possible technical, operational, human and organisational factors, with a final report to be published once the inquiry is complete.
