Share

From 1 January 2018 Geert Sciot will be the new communication manager and spokesman at the National Bank of Belgium, Geert will create and implement a new communication policy for the Bank.

Since 2003 Geert is VP Media Relations at Brussels Airlines, from 2012 to the end of 2016 he also worked part-time for the Association of European Airlines (AEA) as General Manager Communication Association.

“The role of the National Bank of Belgium in society has changed considerably in recent years,” says governor Jan Smets. “That also requires a new, decisive dynamic in the field of communication. I am therefore delighted that we have recruited an experienced expert with Geert Sciot who, together with our employees, will ensure that the National Bank is also an accessible point of contact in the area of ??external and internal communication and at the same time remains a reliable reference.”

Personal note: Our paths have crossed on many occasions but I do remember the many conversations we had on the demise of Sabena and the launch of a new airline. Geert mentioned our website (Luchtzak.be) in two books he wrote together with Steven Decraene and Peter Denruyter : De crash van Sabena and Air Nostalgie.

Working for 25 years in the aviation industry, I changed my career and became a firefighter/EMT in 2021. I like to spend my free time with my two sons, girlfriend, family and friends. I love to travel, wine and dine and support my favourite football squad KV Mechelen. Once an Ironman 70.3 finisher and dreaming of completing a full distance.
