Brussels Airlines introduced a new brand identity characterised by a new livery on 18 November 2021. But until now, only A319 and A320 aircraft were painted in the new colours. The first Airbus A330 sporting the new livery arrived in Belgium in early April and operated its first commercial flight on 7 April.
Brussels Airlines’ Airbus A330-300 registered OO-SFX operated its last flight in the airline’s traditional colours on 12-13 March as SN229 from Brussels to Abidjan, Cotonou and back to Brussels. On 13 March, the aircraft made a ferry flight SN9901 to Châteauroux, near Paris, where a team of painters started applying the new livery.
OO-SFX came back to Brussels from Châteauroux on 1 April, late enough in the evening so as not to be spotted. It was hidden in a hangar until 7 April.
Eventually, on 7 April, the aeroplane appeared in full daylight. Ready for flight SN203 to Dakar and Banjul. And it was photographed by many spotters, including by Jeremy De Winter who provided Aviation24.be with the superb picture hereabove. Thanks Jeremy!
Was it the excitement about these new colours? The flight departed one hour late, but came back from Africa on schedule on 8 April.
