Brussels Airlines has announced a wide-ranging upgrade of its onboard product, with the most significant investment focused on Premium Economy on long-haul routes, alongside enhancements across all cabins and flight types.

The move forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to elevate the passenger experience. Recent initiatives have included the renovation of THE LOFT lounge in Brussels, the rollout of free Wi-Fi for all passengers, and the introduction of new cabins across the long-haul fleet.

Premium Economy Takes Centre Stage

The most substantial changes target long-haul Premium Economy, where passengers will benefit from upgraded tableware featuring premium chinaware, steel cutlery and refined napkins. The catering offer will expand to include three hot meal choices during the main service, enhanced starters, improved pre-landing meals on longer flights and printed menu cards. Upgraded headphones will also be introduced for in-flight entertainment.

The rollout will continue throughout 2026, with the new tableware entering service from mid-March.

Upgrades Across the Cabin

Enhancements are not limited to Premium Economy. Economy Class passengers on long-haul flights will receive an additional food component on their main meal tray, while reusable premium cups for alcoholic beverages will be introduced in Economy on both short- and long-haul services.

Short-haul Business Class will see the addition of fresh towels and bottled water before take-off, as well as the installation of curtain dividers separating Business and Economy cabins.

Meanwhile, the airline has strengthened its premium positioning through its catering concept. Business Class flights departing Brussels now feature menus created by double Michelin-starred chef Glen Verhasselt, highlighting Belgian cuisine. From African departure points, passengers are served African-inspired dishes presented on redesigned tableware.

According to Thibaut Dewilde, Head of Inflight Product, the upgrades are part of a broader ambition to create a “boutique hotel” experience both in the air and on the ground, combining large-scale investments with refined service touches across the entire network.
