During the month of July, the first month of the summer holidays, Brussels Airlines registered a very strong passenger growth. Compared to the previous year, the number of passengers that have opted for a Brussels Airlines flight has increased by 14%.
The strategy of Brussels Airlines to expand its flight offer with attractive summer destinations over the summer season has been very successful in the month of July.
In total 738,780 passengers were welcomed on board. This is 90,000 more passengers than in July 2014. The European network registered 14.9% more passengers and 13.1% more passengers travelled with the Belgian airline to New York and Washington. The African network registered a passenger growth of 7.7%.
The passenger growth had a direct positive impact on the seat load factor that grew by 2.9 percentage points to reach 82.7%.
One of the highlights of July was the cooperation with Tomorrowland. 11,871 Tomorrowland passengers checked in for one of the Brussels Airlines party flights.
In addition to its scheduled flight activity, Brussels Airlines operated many holiday flights for tour operators, meeting and incentive agencies and sports clubs. Passenger figures for these charter activities are not included in the monthly figures of this press release.
