New scheduled service to Accra, frequency increases to several other destinations

Starting 26 October Brussels Airlines will operate flights to Accra, the capital of Ghana, four times weekly. Ghana is one of the fastest-growing African countries, both economically and in terms of tourism. Accra is Brussels Airlines’ 16th destination in West Africa.

A flourishing economy thanks to oil and cocoa, a growing touristic potential and a population that is known for its friendliness and hospitality… With Ghana, Brussels Airlines adds one of the most important up and coming African countries to its network. The GDP continues to grow steadily, trade relations are booming and the number of foreign visitors and tourists increases year after year.

As from the end of October, Brussels Airlines will fly four times a week to Ghana’s capital, Accra. The flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a morning departure from Brussels and an evening return from Accra. The flight schedule allows for smooth connections to many of Brussels Airlines’ European destinations and the United States, including to the UK, Denmark, Germany, France and New York, via Brussels Airport.

We are extremely happy to add Ghana to our African network – the country is currently not directly connected to Brussels Airport,” says Brussels Airlines VP Sales Africa Philippe Saeys. “This is good news both for the growing number of passengers that travel to or from Ghana, and for cargo clients. As well as offering comfortable travel options between Accra, Brussels Airport and Europe, this connection will also contribute to the growing trade relations between Belgium and Ghana.

The direct flights are operated with Airbus A330 aircraft and passengers have the choice between a Business Class product with full flat beds and an Economy Class product with ergonomic seats and on demand in-flight entertainment.

Flight frequency increases to other West African destinations

As from September, the Brussels Airlines flight offer to West Africa will be expanded with increased flight frequencies to several existing destinations. Lomé (Togo) will be operated four times instead of twice weekly. In addition, Cotonou (Benin) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) will be served three times instead of twice weekly.

This is an important investment in our African presence and a clear sign of trust in the economic and touristic development of the region”, says Brussels Airlines Chief Commercial Lars Redeligx. “We offer our growing number of guests more frequencies in order to offer more flexibility.

Revised flight offers in East Africa

From this winter season, for the first time in its history, Brussels Airlines will offer direct flights on both the outbound and the inbound flights between Brussels and the Rwandan capital Kigali.

In line with the Lufthansa Group Africa strategy, which foresees a close collaboration among the group’s airlines that operate in Africa, Brussels Airlines will cease its flights to Nairobi (Kenya) as from the end of October.

Brussels Airlines guests can, however, continue to fly comfortably to the Kenyan capital thanks to the flight offer from SWISS and the new connection offered by Lufthansa starting this autumn.
