Brussels Airlines flight SN455 from Bujumbura and Entebbe had to make two unscheduled stopovers last night. The first landing took place in Cairo for medical reasons and the second one in Geneva was due to crew limitations.

Brussels Airlines flight SN455 from Bujumbura and Entebbe to Brussels, operated by Airbus A330-300 registered OO-SFC, had to divert twice this night and this morning. After taking off two hours late from Entebbe at 22:10 UTC, the aircraft had to land at Cairo airport at 02:34 UTC, where one of the passengers was disembarked for medical reasons. The aircraft remained on the ground for about 3 hours before taking off again at 05:40 UTC.

However, after the long extra stopover in Cairo, the crew were no longer allowed to fly to Brussels because of crew duty limitations. The plane thus landed at Geneva airport at 09:20 UTC (11:20 local time).  A fresh crew sent from Brussels to Geneva to pick up the passengers took off at 12:50 to eventually land at Brussels Airport at 13:40 local time (UTC+2) instead of the scheduled arrival time of 06:35.

The total delay due to those stopovers was more than seven hours.
