Brussels Airlines has received 1415 proposals for the fifth thematic aircraft which will be launched in the coming years

The Belgian airline Brussels Airlines has received 1415 proposals for the fifth thematic plane to be launched next year. A jury will select two finalists from among the candidates.

The proposals received go beyond all what we could imagine,” said Kim Daenen, spokeswoman for Brussels Airlines. “These 1415 proposals come from 32 different countries but most of them come from Belgium.”

Among the recurring themes are Belgian jazz harmonica player Toots Thielemans and the Smurfs.

A jury of five Belgian personalities (Netsky, Olivia Borlée, Paul Dujardin, Yves Mattagne, Eric Domb and Michiel & Manu Beers) will have to choose two finalists who will be known on September 14th. Then the public can vote for them during ten days.

The winner will participate in the design process. The plane is scheduled to roll out with its new livery in March 2018.

Brussels Airlines already owns four Belgian Icons: Rackham (Tintin), surrealist painter Magritte, Trident (Belgian Red Devils) and Amare (Tomorrowland), all of them on Airbus A320 aircraft.
