On 11 September, a Brussels Airlines Airbus A330 (OO-SFU) from Brussels Airport to Washington Dulles headed back to Belgium while overflying Wales. The pilots idled engine number one, descended to 22,000 feet and squawked 7700 (general emergency).

Brussels Airlines spokeswoman Maaike Andries confirmed the incident to Aviation24.be and said: “Due to a technical failure on one of the computer systems (an engine fuel control failure), the pilots decided to return to Brussels. As the flight has now been cancelled, all 155 passengers will be rebooked on the next available flight.
