Brussels Airlines Airbus A330 returns to Brussels Airport: it couldn’t retract landing gear

Share

On 1 August, a Brussels Airlines Airbus A330 (OO-SFC) departed Brussels Airport for flight SN255 towards Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Just after take-off, however, the pilots weren’t able to retract the landing gear due to a hydraulic problem. They stopped the climb at 7,000 feet and entered a holding pattern above Antwerp. Around one hour after its initial take-off, the aircraft safely landed back at Brussels Airport.

Brussels Airlines spokeswoman Maaike Andries confirmed to Aviation24.be that the aircraft’s landing gear couldn’t be retracted due to a problem with the hydraulic system. The airline is now taking care of the 280 passengers to bring them to Burkina Faso – and Abidjan, Ivory Coast – as soon as possible.
