This morning (13 November), one of the oldest Airbus A330 aircraft left Brussels Airport for her final destination. On 28 October 2018, the 25-year-old Airbus A330 (OO-SFN) performed her last commercial flights for Brussels Airlines as SN501 and SN502, between New York JFK and Brussels.

In 1993, the A330 started flying for Air Inter (F-GMDB) before continuing her career at Sabena in 1997. After Sabena’s bankruptcy (2001), the aircraft was briefly stored at Chateauroux. In 2002, the aircraft was operating again: Birdy Airlines, operating for SN Brussels Airlines. In 2004, “Sierra-Foxtrot-November” joined the (SN) Brussels Airlines fleet.

The aircraft is now heading to Pinal Airpark, an aircraft boneyard in Arizona, United States. Not before making a stopover at Bangor Airport first. Her fate is already known: SFN will be scrapped. In Pinal Airpark, the Airbus A330 will meet OO-SGC, a Sabena Boeing 747-300.

Working for 25 years in the aviation industry, I changed my career and became a firefighter/EMT in 2021. I like to spend my free time with my two sons, girlfriend, family and friends. I love to travel, wine and dine and support my favourite football squad KV Mechelen. Once an Ironman 70.3 finisher and dreaming of completing a full distance.
