• January-July 2017: 13.8 percent increase in passenger volume
• Slight increase of passenger load factor by 0.3 percentage points in 2017

Austrian Airlines further increased its passenger volume in the month of July 2017: Austria’s red-white-red carrier transported close to 1.4 million passengers, corresponding to a rise of 14.8 percent compared to July of 2016. This increase is mainly due to the airberlin aircraft, deployed within a wet-lease agreement, and the associated expansion of European flight offering as well as the expanded bilateral flight traffic between Austria and Germany. The flight offering, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was up by 9.8 percent to more than 2.7 billion. Revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) increased by 9.5 percent to more than 2.3 billion. Capacity utilization of the flights (passenger load factor) was at an average of 85.3 percent in July 2017, a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the prior-year month.

In the period January to July 2017, Austrian Airlines carried a total of more than 7.1 million passengers, comprising a rise of 13.8 percent. The flight offering in available seat kilometres (ASK) was up by 8.0 percent to 15 billion. Revenue passenger kilometres amounted to around 11.4 billion, an increase of 8.5 percent compared to the first seven months of 2016. Capacity utilization was up slightly by 0.3 percentage points to 75.7 percent.
