• Embraer simulator in full operation at Vienna Airport
• Almost new Embraer jets replace Fokker aircraft: greater traveling comfort for passengers
Another Embraer aicraft in the Austrian Airlines fleet with the registration number OE-LWK took off on its initial flight OS311 from Vienna to Stockholm this morning. The Embraer aircraft is the sixth out of a total of 17 Embraer jets which Austrian Airlines will integrate into its fleet by the end of 2017.
In April 2016, an Embraer simulator from Swiss Aviation Training (SAT) was relocated from Munich to Vienna (see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpuCnosyQko) in order to train Austrian Airlines pilots to fly the Embraer aircraft. The Embraer simulator has been in full operation since May 19, 2016, which means that round the clock trainings are taking place for the new type of aircraft used in the Austrian Airlines fleet. Lufthansa Flight Training Vienna (LFT) is responsible for operating the simulator at Vienna Airport.
The Embraer jets consume about 18 percent less fuel per aircraft seat than the Fokker, and are thus much more environmentally compatible. The fleet renewal program also enhances travel comfort: The cabin equipped with a two-by-two-seating is particularly spacious thanks to its ergonomic design, thus offering passengers a feeling of enjoying more space. The Embraer jets have an average age of four years, providing room for 120 passengers. The list price of an Embraer jet is about USD 52 million.
