On 9 April, a few gunmen made a heist at Tirana Airport (TIA/LTIA) on an Austrian Airlines Airbus A320-214 (OE-LBY) ready to depart to Vienna on flight OS848.
Gunmen threatened the ground staff while cargo was being loaded, ordering them on the ground, reports Reuters.
A shipment of money has been stolen, for an amount estimated at minimum €2 million, according to the initial reports, but the sum could reach €10 mln, which hasn’t been yet confirmed by local police.
During the chase, a gunman has been shot. Media reports say he was found with an assault weapon, a grenade and magazines with bullets.
The A320 finally took off 3 hours late.
