LOT Polish Airlines posts strong 2025 profit as passenger numbers reach record high

LOT Polish Airlines has reported one of the strongest financial performances in its history, ending 2025 with a net profit of PLN 350 million (€82 million) and carrying a record 11.7 million passengers. The Polish flag carrier generated PLN 10.22 billion (€2.4 billion) in revenue during the year, while operating profit (EBIT) reached PLN 422 million (€99 million). Passenger numbers increased by 9.4% compared to 2024, marking the highest annual total in the airline’s history.

CEO Michal Fijol said the results demonstrate the airline’s ability to combine rapid expansion with financial discipline as it continues implementing its 2024–2028 growth strategy.

A key milestone in 2025 was the announcement of LOT’s largest-ever fleet renewal programme. During the Paris Air Show, the airline signed an agreement for 40 Airbus A220 aircraft, with options for an additional 44, paving the way for a complete replacement of its regional fleet. Deliveries of the A220 are scheduled to begin in 2027.

The carrier also expanded its narrowbody fleet by taking delivery of the first of 13 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with further deliveries continuing into 2026.

Network growth remained another major focus. During 2025, LOT launched nine new routes, including services from Warsaw to Lisbon, Reykjavik, Marrakech and Rovaniemi, as well as new connections from Kraków to Paris-Orly and from Radom to Barcelona. The airline has also announced 15 additional routes for 2026, further strengthening its presence from both Warsaw and regional airports.

Beyond its financial and operational achievements, LOT received a four-star rating from Skytrax and was named Best Airline in Eastern Europe at the 2025 World Airline Awards. The airline also expanded its environmental and cargo certifications, including receiving the IATA Environmental Assessment certification and its fourth IATA CEIV certification.

Looking ahead, LOT expects to receive 12 additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s and two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners during 2026, before the first Airbus A220s enter service in 2027 as part of its long-term fleet modernisation strategy. The airline aims to operate one of Europe’s youngest fleets by the end of the decade.
