Warsaw–Almaty service begins 31 May 2026, expanding LOT’s Central Asia network

LOT Polish Airlines has opened ticket sales for its new direct service between Warsaw (WAW) and Almaty (ALA), Kazakhstan’s largest city and former capital. The new connection will launch on 31 May 2026, marking LOT’s second destination in Kazakhstan, alongside Astana.

The airline will operate four weekly flights during the summer season (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays) and three weekly flights in winter. The route will be served by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with a flight time of approximately 6.5 hours from Warsaw and 7.5 hours on the return leg.

“Kazakhstan is Central Asia’s largest economy and one of Poland’s key trade partners in the region. Almaty also offers strong tourism potential with its mountain landscapes and vibrant culture,” said Robert Ludera, Director of Network Planning at LOT Polish Airlines.

About Almaty

Nestled at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, Almaty is Kazakhstan’s cultural and commercial hub—renowned for its elegant boulevards, dynamic art scene, and rich architectural contrasts. The city’s name derives from the Kazakh word for apple, a symbol proudly celebrated in its landmarks and cuisine.

Visitors can ride the Kok Tobe cable car for panoramic views, explore the Big Almaty Lake and surrounding peaks, or visit cultural gems like the Ykhlas Museum of Folk Musical Instruments and the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts.

A Taste of Kazakhstan

Local cuisine blends Asian and European influences, featuring hearty dishes such as kuurdak (fried meat with onions and vegetables) and lagman (a rich noodle soup).

Tickets for the new Warsaw–Almaty route are now available via lot.com, the LOT Contact Centre, and LOT Travel agents.

This expansion reinforces LOT Polish Airlines’ growing presence in Central Asia, enhancing connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.
